We took Harper out to stroll the streets in her cute bear suit. She seemed to have a good time and her bear suit makes me want to pinch her.
This costume was purchased by me on a whim over a year ago when we were thinking that perhaps we would be traveling in the fall... of last year. Anyway, this costume has been sitting in my closet just waiting.
I think it is a perfect fit. It is weird to think I bought it before Harper was even born and yet this is exactly how I pictured it in my mind when I saw it in a store...

Montage Madness
Harper's Birthday was one week ago. She is now one year old and it feels like we have known her for ten years even though she has been with us for just over three months. Crazy.
This movie is for her.

Firsts
This is the first time Cubbie was brave enough to 'hang' with Harper. At least until she decided to box his ears.
This is Harper's first tooth, well at least the first razor sharp nub. (I know it is hard to see, look on the bottom on her left. Trust me I know it is there. I almost lost a finger up to the the first knuckle.)
Harper's first snowfall. She thought it was weird, Mommy thought it was way too soon...
The first time Harper decided to slither backwards under the couch. Why...? I really have no idea.

Does This Make Me A Bad Parent?

I know that Harper is frustrated in this picture. It clearly shows on her face. So why is it that this picture makes me laugh?
I think it's because she's part bobble head.

The Nutmeg State
We took our first weekend trip. We headed to Connecticut to visit Harper’s new cousin, Mayson. Mayson is adorable and I think these two ladies will be getting into trouble together very soon.
Harper did a great job traveling and sleeping in a new place, she adjusted very well. Not only did she meet Mayson and her Aunt Karen and Uncle Kevin, she also got to meet Rustin and Mai Tai, only the second and third dog she has ever seen. Rustin is shown in the pictures; unfortunately Mai Tai got a thump on the nose by a stacking cup so he kept his distance.
There is only one thing that concerned me. When Mayson would cry, Harper would look at her, rub her hands together and then maniacal laughter would follow. Is there a book available on how to steer your child away from a path of world domination? Sure, I want her to be successful, but being a cold-hearted tyrant always reflects badly on the parents… Bwah hahaha ha!
(I pilfered these from Karen and Kevin’s web page, we totally forgot to take pictures and Kevin has a way better camera…)

Oh yeah, I think Harper is finally teething. I totally felt a sharp poke, although I like to think of it as ‘sprouting’ teeth rather than cutting teeth. It seems more magical despite the whining.

A Deuce-Free Bath Zone
For those who are confused, here is a definition of "shiznet" according to Humpty Dizzle who posted this on www.urbandictionary.com:
shiznit
Expresses extensive emotional satisfaction or glorification of any given noun. Often used by those who lack the vocabulary to express the true essence of the situation.
Other meanings: Shit, fecies, poo, doodoo, dung, crap and excrement.
Shiznit can also be used interjectionally. Generally "shiznit" can be seen as a last resort when all other means of expression fail.

Hooray, a deuce-free bath!

Busted
Hoo Boy.
We’ve been found out.
Yes, Harper was hiking in her pajamas.
In our defense, we did it to thwart that frustrating leg gap between pants and socks when shoved into a carrier/torture apparatus. Harper’s legs seem to be growing longer perhaps almost as fast as her Buddha belly. That juicy flesh would be tempting those pesky skeeters. I mean seriously, who could resist a good chomp. I have to admit that I want to bite her daily. These particular pajamas have the best calf covering length (with the exception of the footie pajamas, but then I wouldn’t have been able to trick nearly all of you into thinking I know what I am doing.)
That was the technical answer. The other angle is that Harper loves those jammies. She loves to look at herself in the mirror and squeal when she wears that lovely specimen of nighttime garb. She calls herself “Hotsie Totsie” which we are actually a little concerned about. We are really hoping that doesn’t become her ‘stage’ name or anything, but as good parents do, we explained that jammies are ok for hiking, pasties are not.
Besides, haven’t you heard that pajamas on the slopes of the Green Mountains are going to be the biggest thing since moon boots?

Hiking With Harper
Harper went on her first hike. We went with Jenny, Don and Ruby. Harper was so excited... she fell asleep.
