Good Grief!

We finally made it here to the wonderful world of Disney. For those of you who didn’t have our flight itinerary, we traveled Jet Blue from Burlington to JFK to Orlando. We waited a long time on the ground in JFK before we even took off, but then we had a rather eventful flight.

First, to remind you, Jet Blue has an individual TV for every seat which includes channels like MSNBC and FOX News. Shortly after we took off we were able to watch the “Breaking News” about a Jet Blue flight that was going to make an emergency landing because its front landing gear was bent and the wheels wouldn’t go up, but they were also twisted to a 90 degree angle to what is needed to land. (Unless you are trying to parallel park at the same time.) This was a Jet Blue flight from Burbank, CA heading to JFK, but had turned around and was considering landing back at Long Beach or LAX. Anyway, we got to watch the drama unfold live from our very own Jet Blue flight. They had a camera watching this perhaps doomed plane for over 2 hours of our flight. Including news people commenting on how Jet Blue has TVs in their planes… wonder if passengers are watching… what kind of crash procedures will they be getting… look at all the firemen ready and standing-by… no they can’t dump fuel from an A-320 so they have had to fly around LAX for 2 and a half hours… is there any history on this particular problem happening before…

Finally, after a very long tense time for us, and I am sure heart pounding time for the other flight, their pilot made a beauty of a touch down and would be considered “perfect” if not for the crippled landing gear. People on our flight clapped and felt relieved for everyone else on the other flight and relived that it wasn’t ours. We then watched, live, people disembark their plane with such enthusiasm I wonder how exactly they will be getting back to New York.

We did have a spot of turbulence toward the end of our flight and I can tell you now that there is no need for me to go on the Tower of Terror this week. I already did.

On the bright side, Dan sat by a man who somehow… had a DVD of The Exorcism of Emily Rose. (That is currently in theaters now.) Anyway, the man said he had lots and gave Dan one. How very RANDOM! You can tell that it is not all together legal; the movie has the running time and stuff on the screen for half of the movie.

Tomorrow we will be off to Epcot. It is open until midnight.

As Stiffler from American Pie movie fame said, “It is on like Donkey Kong.”
(That is if we ever get our bags from the bellman… it is now 1:00 am.)
Love to you all,

I'm glad you guys made it there. I never thought there would be a reason not to have your own tv on an airplane. Have fun.

Keep us posted on any other thrilling events unfolding around you. What are the odds of that all happening at once?
Lucky for you "Rita" decided to go west. Otherwise your vacation could have really turned into a new Disney underwater adventure.
Have fun. Stay safe.
